Overview ​

Workato uses a usage-based billing model with the following components:

• A platform edition, which determines the capabilities you can access.
• Usage, the variable part, measured in Workato credits.
• Optional add-ons, purchased separately.

Platform editions ​

Your edition determines which capabilities are available to your organization. Workato offers a range of editions for organizations of every size. Each edition provides access to a defined set of platform capabilities. Subsequent editions include all the features of the previous one, along with additional capabilities unique to that edition.

Usage is measured independently of your edition.

How usage is measured ​

Your usage is measured in Workato credits. Usage reflects the amount of activity across your workspace.

A Workato credit is a single, common billing unit used across every capability. You purchase a balance of credits, and any capability you use draws from that same balance, whether you're running workflows, processing documents, or running an agent. This lets you allocate credits wherever your business needs them, without maintaining a separate budget for each capability.

Each capability measures usage in its own metric. For example, workflows are measured in the steps they run, document processing is measured in the pages it processes, and APIs are measured in the requests they process. Your usage in each metric is converted into credits.

A simple way to picture it: Credits are like tokens at an arcade. You buy a stack of tokens once, then use them on whatever games you like. Each game costs a different number of tokens, but the tokens themselves are the same everywhere.

Some plans measure usage differently. Refer to your contract or contact your Customer Success Representative for more information.

Add-ons ​

Some capabilities, such as additional concurrency or OPAs (on-premise agents), can be purchased separately, depending on your contract and plan. Add-ons are billed separately from your credit usage.
